LOST According to Lauren: The Last of LOST

I knew I would cry.

And I figured I would cry a LOT.

But the emotional journey that the final episode of LOST took me on was more than I had anticipated. I was exhausted afterwards.

And a little confused.

But after several days of letting everything sink in, discussing the finale with friends, and reading some articles online, I decided I not only liked the finale, I LOVED it.

They couldn't have ended it better.

Yes, there were PLENTY of questions left, but the finality with the characters was absolutely beautiful.

I would have been super annoyed if they had tied up all of the answers to the show in a neat little bow and left all of the relationships that we've had with all of the characters untouched.

Each time they flashed sideways and another character was reunited... good grief, my friends and I lost it (pun intended). The moment with Claire and Charlie... through her sobs my friend Ashley cried out, "I've been waiting for this for 3 seasons!!"

And the beauty of the sideways flashes being a place where they could all reunite and share together and be with the ones that shaped and loved them on the island... it gives me chills. And what I especially love about it is that they were able to meet each other in their own time. They didn't just all meet up, they had to figure it out on their own. And as each of them did... so moving.

And even in Jack's death (which I had already prepared myself for when in the previous episode Hurley had declared that he was glad Jack took the job because he didn't want to do it- way to foreshadow Damon and Carlton), there was such a sense of peace. The plane flew over him. He shut his eye. I cried like a small child.

And I feel like I got the ending I always wanted.

Everyone ended up happily ever after.
