I have to take a moment and brag...

So, we FINALLY were able to aquire a washer and dryer for our apartment! After several LOOOONG months without either one, a kind couple from Dallas donated some to us! Hooray!

Meredith and I drove to Dallas on Saturday afternoon, squeezed them into the back of her van and then hauled them all the way back to Fort Worth. It was quite a drive, but SO worth it.

Unfortunately when we got home and carefully unloaded them (and by carefully I mean there was a lot of screaming and laughing) we noticed that there was a problem with our dryer. Our dryer had a 3 prong plug and our outlet had a 4 prong hole...

We figured we would just find some sort of adapter at Home Depot. We definitely thought wrong. You have to replace the ENTIRE plug. Which means re-wiring. Which means Lauren is FINALLY going to put to use some of that Stage Lighting class!

So I went and bought the plug and took it home this afternoon. I pivoted the dryer towards me, pulled the tool box down and went to work. It was all very self explanatory. All the wires were color coded and I only got confused once when trying to find a place for the ground. I figured it out though, only called my dad twice (in which he assured me that I had A)done it right and B)wasn't going to electrocute myself.

I plugged it in, hooked up the vent, pushed start and guess what?

It worked!!! I totally rewired something ALL BY MYSELF! It was a great feeling of accomplishment if I do say so myself!

(below is a picture of a sad Lauren holding the plug that won't plug in...)
