Even when I was in Midsummer Night's Dream as Hermia and I was literally being thrown all over the stage, I didn't have as many bruises as I do from being in a Christmas Carol.
So I thought I would document them. Some are pretty funny...
My hand- During the Fezziwig dance on Wednesday, (during one of the THREE performances that day- whew!) there is a part where Stephanie takes a beer mug and ends up having to dance with it throughout the rest of the scene. Well we do this kind of sweeping turn and somehow my hand got in the way and it got completely SMACKED by the beer mug. Bruise #1.
The side of my left leg- I do a lot of walking down stairs in the dark. The other night I was walking down stairs onstage in the dark and scraped the snot out of my leg. Bruise #2.
The front of my left leg- During the curtain call there is a LOT of dancing. And a LOT of boys doing some crazy kicking-type dancing. My leg got in the way of Zach's kicking and I now have a nice whelp and a giant ugly bruise. Bruise #3.
My left middle toe- I have almost no feeling in it... weird. Probably from wearing character shoes for two days straight... but it hasn't come back yet and I'm getting a little concerned.
My throat- Though not really an injury, my throat has been KILLING me. It just started last night after dinner with my parents and I am hoping to try and fend off any major illness until Christmas Eve... which would totally suck because it would mean being sick at Christmas, but at least I'll have gotten through the show!
I have to say, throughout all the injuries and the sleep deprivation and extreme exhaustion, it's been glorious! I've had the most wonderful experience with the show. It will be a joy to close this show because I will know that I've done a professional job. HOORAY!
