Contrary to popular belief, I do not do things to simply to "go against the grain."  So just because I like...

-Jacob as opposed to Edward

-Florescent lighting (better for the environment AND cheaper... sign me up!)

-The play Doubt and therefore I want to see the movie Doubt (um, John Patrick Shanley ROCKS)

-Musicals, Christian, and Indie music 

-Lost (and I've stuck through it for the past two seasons)

-Organic foods

-High School Musical 3 as opposed to the Twilight movie

-JKR as opposed to Stephenie Meyer

-The Host

-The play Frost Nixon and therefore I want to see the movie Frost/Nixon

...does NOT mean that I'm trying to "go against the grain just to go against the grain."  I'm not going to like something simply because everyone else likes it.  And I'm not going to NOT like something because nobody else likes it.  I like what I like because that was how I was created.
