Season Finale of Lost

Spoiler Alert! Read at your own risk.

Okay, so I've been a huge Lost fan for a while now. I've watched for two complete seasons now (my best friend and I started a little late). It's one of the best television dramas I've ever watched. I would even rank it up there with X-Files which is pretty huge in Lauren World.

And I've stuck with the show through the rough patches (the beginning of the current, third, season) and have been a hard core Jack supporter even when he seemed to be going to the dark side. I read and discuss Lost theories and love to shoot down the ever so popular, but continuously denied (by the creators of the show) purgatory theory.

So upon hearing about this season three finale, I was nervous. Excited yes, but way nervous. Nervous because I had read 5 people would die. And nervous because I knew something HUGE was going to happen.

Let me first point out that I go to a Lost party every Wednesday night. Usually there are about 10 of us, but tonight there were 25. It was way intense. So I was crammed on a couch with my friend Derek. Everyone gets all cozy, Dustin grabs the remote, and the Lost madness has begun. About 5 minutes into the Jack "flashback" Derek leans over to me and says "wouldn't it be strange if this were the future?" To which I say "um, I was totally just thinking that..."

We go back and forth, the two of us, about whether it's the future or just a regular flashback, but during one of the phone calls that Jack makes to the unknown person, I say to Derek "wouldn't it be really strange if that was Kate on the other line? In the future?"

When the car pulls up and it IS Kate that he's been talking to and it IS the future, Derek and I high five, but then realize that somethings not right. This can't really be the future. We don't WANT any of this to happen. We don't want Jack to fall apart when he gets off the island. We don't want Jack and Kate to NOT get together. We want things happy when they get back. Not this strange alternate universe where Kate has someone more important to get back home to and Jack is addicted to prescription pills and has become an alcoholic like his father. Something is NOT RIGHT.

So here's my theory. This is a flash of the future. This is somehow not set in stone. This can be changed and will be changed by them not leaving the island at this time. I'm not sure who has this flash. If it's a specific person like Desmond or something strange happening to Locke and he's going to do something to stop them from getting rescued... I don't know. All I know is that I think this future can be changed and will be changed. I don't think they're getting off the island any time soon. I have to believe that. I mean they've got 3 more seasons to make...

I just feel it in my gut that something is going to put a wrench in their plans to get rescued. I think it will probably have something to do with Locke. Or a combination of Locke and Desmond. And now that I'm thinking about it, Desmond said that he didn't have any flashes. What if those flashes have been passed to someone else? I'm just thinking out loud at this point. Like I said, I just don't think our little glimpses into the future were what we think they are.

I've got loads more theories on tonight and some crazy questions to pose, but I need video to aid my ideas and there isn't anything up on YouTube yet. I'll get back to writing when I have more support.

Oh, and the funniest moment tonight? Hurley running over the dude with the VW van. Classic and hilarious!
