If you knew me at all in high school, particularly if you were in the youth group with me in high school, you knew that Sunday nights after LIFE SHARE groups I didn't linger to chat. Instead I would grab Ross, jump into the Beretta (oh the Beretta) and FLY home. I could make it to my dad's house (to drop Ross off) and back to my house in record amounts of time with very little speeding. I would commandeer the downstairs living room all to watch THE X-FILES.
It was good times. I had been introduced to the show by my best friend Melissa in junior high and I still consider it one of the best television dramas of all time. Lost and X-Files are probably top of my list. The creepy storylines, the confusing mythical arc, the AMAZING chemistry between Mulder and Scully... Sunday nights were the best.
The X-Files is why, junior year of high school, my parents got a new television for the living room and the old one was placed into my bedroom and set up with cable soon after- they were sick of me taking over the living room every Sunday night. The X-Files is what originally sparked my interest in the Mayans. And why for a small portion of time during freshman year of high school I refused to eat corn.
Imagine my EXCITEMENT to find out that a NEW movie is coming out in JULY OF THIS YEAR!!! I was searching for movies to take the teens to during the summer and I typed "Summber blockbuster movies 2008" into Google. A link to a website with all the big movies listed came up and under July 25th it said "Unnamed X-Files Sequel." I thought it was a fluke. They have been talking about a new movie for YEARS and it's been almost ten years since the original movie came out. But SURE ENOUGH! I called Dee who got pretty excited too (only because we share a goofy inside joke about the first movie). Most of the people I've talked to about it are pretty understanding about it all. It is such a great thing to remember.
So, I'm HOPING that I can convince some friends (maybe Ruth?) to come and see the movie with me. I'm really hoping that there's a midnight showing (you know me and my midnight showings). All in all, just another thing that is going to make this summer AMAZING!
