Really, the part I'm referring to in this clip starts at about 3:50. It's the scene where Rory talks about all the books in the Harvard library. She talks about "frittering away her life" because she'll never be able to read all the books in the world.
I totally understand that. I love to read. And I sometimes waste WAY too much time watching tv or "frittering away my life" than reading a book.
And I want to be more diverse in my reading. Which is why I'm attempting to read something "old and Russian" this year. To get me out of my very old and contented rut of light reading. Last year I read like 10 romantic comedy type books! I need more diversity!
So my goal is to finish reading Goblet of Fire (which WOW I've been re-reading for a while!) and start my "old and Russian" novel which is...
*insert trumpet blare*
Leo Tolstoy's Resurrection!
I was at Barnes and Noble with Ashley a few weeks ago and was checking out Tolstoy with every intention of buying War and Peace. But then I LOOKED at War and Peace and decided that I needed to start with a Baby Tolstoy first. And I've already read Anna Karenina, so I went with a less-known Tolstoy. I also looked at Dostoevsky's The Brother's Karamazov, but that looked big and scary too. So Resurrection it is!
Now I just have to finish it by December 2009... wish me luck!
